Production & Packaging Equipment Technician

Job Description

Action Pak, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced hands-on engineer/technician to help troubleshoot, repair and PM high speed flow wrappers, overwrap machines, thermal band sealers, automatic horizontal end-load cartoners, conveyors, fillers and other production line equipment. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager as well as the Plant Engineer.


Overview:


The Production & Packaging Equipment Technician sets up, troubleshoots, provides preventative maintenance, and repair to packaging equipment in a production/manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:



  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance aseptically

  • Troubleshoot major mechanical and electrical breakdowns

  • Respond to equipment faults and error messages, to assess potential product impact and act to identify and address root cause

  • Performs set-ups/changeovers for packaging equipment

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area

  • Organize and able to oversee 3-4 mechanics

  • This position will visually inspect, test and listen to equipment to locate causes or malfunctions and keep equipment operational

  • Identify improvement opportunities in given processes/procedures


Qualification & Requirements:



  • Applicant must have strong technical background and mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment

  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, automation, and pneumatics is required

  • Ability to comprehend electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings of packaging equipment and systems

  • Automation/PLC experience is highly desired

  • Experience in a manufacturing facility, specifically around food or beverage industry (a plus )

  • Able to work full-time with weekly overtime

  • Innovative and interested in simple automation

  • Experience with running packaging lines

  • Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Sanitation Processes

  • Industrial Controls Knowledge

  • Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience working on various packaging and filling equipment

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, fabrication, and troubleshooting skills

  • Self-motivated with ability to take direction and work independently or as a member of a team
